Unicode Decoder

Decode Unicode escapes/code points to text.

How it works

  • Choose JavaScript-style \u escapes, eight-digit \U escapes, braced \u{...} escapes or U+ notation.
  • Supplementary-plane characters are handled as valid scalar values; JavaScript-style output uses surrogate pairs where required.

Example

  • “A” can be represented as \u0041 or U+0041; characters above U+FFFF require a supplementary representation.

Assumptions and limitations

  • An isolated UTF-16 surrogate is not a Unicode scalar value and is rejected during scalar-value decoding.
