Inspect code point, name, category and UTF encodings for characters.
How it works
- Enter a character such as “A” or a code point such as “U+1F496”.
- The inspector resolves the Unicode scalar value and displays available local metadata plus UTF-8, UTF-16 and HTML numeric forms.
Assumptions and limitations
- Unicode name/category/block/script/age fields are limited to the locally packaged reference index until the complete Unicode 18.0.0 UCD is installed.
- A user-perceived grapheme can contain more than one code point; this inspector is code-point oriented.
FAQ
Why can one visible character contain several code points?
Unicode can represent a displayed grapheme as a base character plus combining marks, emoji modifiers, variation selectors or joiner sequences. The inspector works with individual code points.
