HTML Entity Encoder & Decoder

Encode/decode HTML entities.

How it works

  • Encoding replaces HTML-sensitive characters such as &, , quotes and apostrophes with entities.
  • Decoding resolves HTML character references back to text.

Example

  • “” is encoded so the angle brackets and ampersand are represented as HTML entities.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Encoding text as entities does not make untrusted HTML safe in every context; contextual output escaping is still required in web applications.
